Wonderland Hiker Camp

2008
Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia

Key concepts
- minimise environmental impacts
- provide a unique ‘on walk’ camp site showcasing the Mt Rosea area of the park and reinforcing the park’s significant natural and cultural heritage
- provide an experience which is ‘environmentally sustainable and involves best practice environmental and management standards’
- maintain sense of remoteness for hikers

The proposed concept design for the Mt Rosea Hiker Camp:

- reduces the amount of equipment that the long distance walker has to carry by providing cooking facilities, basic shelter, access to tank water

- proposes a modular system of elements or ‘kit of parts’ which are utilised as a signature identity for the proposed Mt Rosea Camp Site and potentially other Long Distance walk hiker campsites

- provides a shelter for hikers along with provision of 10 x 2 person camp sites which take advantage of spectacular views of Mt Rosea and Mt William
